OUTSIDE OF AUSTIN is a Documentary Film Directed by Gavin Wegener and produced by Gavin Wegener, Colin Njemanze, Brian Riley and James Lino, under production companies G.W. Films and Promethues Rex Films.
OUTSIDE OF AUSTIN is a deep dive into the Houston Texas music scene, specifically the indie-rock genre. The film investigates the differences between Houston’s own music industry and the global hub for indie rock music, Austin, Texas.
As many local artists flee from Houston due to it’s struggle to maintain a sustainable environment for working artists, others find their definition of success to be simply having a space to express their creativity. From failing festivals to chatty concert go-ers, the film weaves together a bigger picture of what fuels Houston’s music scene and what may be withholding it …
